Who We Are

Liquid Events was born from a shared vision of Stuart Clumpas, Michael Swan, and Brendan Hines, three industry leaders whose paths converged through decades of experience in live events, hospitality, and venue management.

For Stuart, the journey began in Scotland, where his passion for live music took root in his early teens. His career spanned the UK, shaping some of the most iconic festivals before he relocated to New Zealand, intending to step back from the industry. But retirement didn’t last long — his love for live events led him to Spark Arena (formerly Vector Arena), where he became a key figure in its ownership and operations.

Mike, with years of expertise in the bar and hospitality industry, took on the challenge of leading Spark Arena’s catering team, delivering exceptional service across hospitality and retail operations. His ability to streamline service and enhance guest experiences made him a driving force in venue operations.

Brendan was there from the very beginning — part of the team that laid the foundation for Spark Arena (formerly Vector Arena) when development began in 2005. From its early days through more than a decade as General Manager until 2022, he played a pivotal role in shaping its status as New Zealand’s premier live event venues.

Through their collective experience, they saw an opportunity to elevate festival bar operations across New Zealand. They understood that a well-run bar isn’t just about serving drinks—it’s about enhancing the attendee experience, optimizing service flow, and ensuring a safe, enjoyable environment for all.​ With this vision, Liquid Events was created — bringing together expertise, innovation, and a commitment to excellence to redefine how bars operate at festivals across the country.
